This is my Migraine Disease poem receiving an honorable mention in the “Putting Our Heads Together” poetry contest. Check it out:
A change on the horizon –
Cold, bright diamonds –
Facets gleaming;
Brilliant white prisms
Caught in the light,
Pinpoint shards
In my line of sight.
The tempo builds
In the cavity again;
Rising, repeating,
The pulsations begin.
The drilling, the boring,
To no avail;
Pressures seismic –
The crags impale.
The great cavern rocks –
It’s undulations increase;
Molten and hot –
The lava seeks release.
Clouds above
The dark rocks ascending;
Movement increases,
The waves – neverending.
What beginning, no end,
Time stands at attention;
The sun, the moon
Defy all redemption.
Soft stars appear,
The bright shimmers recede;
Vibrations release –
Willing to concede.
The rocks, the crags
Cliffs and all;
Movement ceases –
Their pressures fall.
Earth aligned,
The color returns;
Caressing, releasing –
The pulse no longer burns.
Giant plates,
Now dormant sustain;
Though caverns sleep,
Their pressures remain.
