Gleeful Warriors
You know, I really don’t agree with the belief that joy needs to be reclaimed. I don’t believe that joy ever leaves us. Where would it go? How does it leave? And why?
We are all born with it–Joy. We exude enough of it as children to fill all the adult hearts in any room. We’ve no need to be taught how to smile on a sunny Saturday morning, dance in muddy spring puddles, delight as a butterfly alights on our noses. Joy is our birthright…our spiritual birthmark.
Then why does joy appear to leave us?
Well, I’ve come to believe that joy can be forcibly relinquished by trauma, complicated relationships, unavoidable hardships, day-to-day frustrations, and the reality of a complicated world. When we look up from our strife and find our joy buried under a well-fertilized tangle of negative circumstances and thoughts, we feel that unearthing it seems impossible.
Until now…
This blog is about you, Gleeful Warriors, and I’d like to remind you that your joy—your innate life-force–never really left you.
Welcome! My name is Paula J. Albers. I live in the US Midwest, surrounded by an intense and inspirational wild forest. I hike, I explore, and I write…I dream, and I hope. I have two grown daughters, seven grandchildren and plenty of four-legged fur-kids. I’m drawn to history: old farmhouses, time-worn furniture, and historical places. I feed my solace by chalk-painting and restoring vintage furniture, writing poetry, and wandering through the forest.
My writing is best described as sometimes poetic, sometimes journalistic, and driven by the hope to help and inspire. My promise to you is this: I will work to brighten your day through poetry and quotes, positive imagery, and a commonsense approach. I’ll redirect your point-of-view on the tough days, keep you laughing on the good ones, and strive to bring realistic and remarkable news and good vibes in between.
Ten years ago, I sought out a career as a paramedic with a minor in Liberal Arts. Chronic Migraine disease (check out my previous migraine posts) changed my life-path and I realized that (physically) rescuing others wasn’t possible. But my desire to motivate and reassure has only been strengthened by that fork in the road. Inspiration and the reanimation of joy is my promise to you.
Nuts & Bolts (what you see is what you’ll get):
- Weekly hope, positivity, and perseverance through my posts and images;
- Commonsense ideas and healthy lifestyle alternatives;
- Strategies designed to get you through the difficult days we all have.
Our smiles remember those sunny Saturday mornings. Muddy puddles inspire dancing again. And bright butterflies tickle our noses once more.
Birthmark restored. Joy reanimated.
Will join me? I hope so.
Let’s get started…
