Migraine Awareness Month #18: “The Price Is Right”
“What one thing would you do for the Migraine community if money were no issue?”
Quite a different question: if reality were no issue, of course I would cure all headache and Migraine disorders/diseases. Come to think of it – I would cure the diseases, disorders, pain & suffering of ALL KINDS while on “that” roll!!
But this question involves money – not reality, not magic and certainly not some gamma radiation-granted Superpower! Money is only money, has no super powers, and is definitely NOT magic. Oh, well… (“stick to the post, Paula!”)
Well, here is what I would do for Migraine Disease sufferers everywhere/anywere if I had all the money in the world to use at my disposal:
- I would throw all this money around, flashing it in the faces of only the most sought-after and celebrated Migraine researchers and scientists this world has to offer. Incentives, awards and honors would be bestowed upon the first to discover “our” cure. Of course, money would be NO issue…
- With “money being no issue”, my next step would be to secure diagnoses, treatment (with only headache & Migraine Specialists), and continuing support to ANY and ALL suffering from headache disorders and Migraine Disease (free of charge and including travel, of course…). No one suffering with this genetic disease would suffer again.
- Until a Migraine cure is discovered, no Migraineur or headache sufferer would ever have to worry about running out of or affording their medicines. Abortives, preventatives, and any other necessary medicine will be free of charge, never denied, and never limited – EVER!
- And… equally important as all of the former listed above: I would sponsor public campaigns and advertising that would bring Migraine Disease stigma and misunderstanding to a halt. Physicians, nurses and all medical personnel would be immediately required to certify in Migraine Disease and headache disorder awareness classes and training. This Migraine Awareness Training would also immediately become part of all school curriculum. Antiquated, outdated beliefs about Migraine based on the folklore of the past would be just that – a thing of the past…
