NMAMBC #25: “Carpe Diem, You Betcha!” (Alternate)

August 6, 2012 by paula 1 Comment

Migraine Awareness Month #25: “Carpe Diem, You Betcha!” (Alternate to: “Through My Children’s Eyes”)

“Tell us about a time when you truly seized the day”

I believe that Migraineurs and the chronically ill seize the day every day. Most of those days would have to be described as tributes to perseverance, effort, courage… guts. Some days, just existing feels like the battle of a lifetime; everything is…effort.

This is my tribute poem to the soldiers of chronic illness:

When the crest you’re riding

Seems to abate.

Observe: there’s the next one;

The chance – you cannot wait!

**********************************************************************

Each and every wave

An eternity seems;

It’s actually just a blink

Rushing by – your dreams.

***********************************************************************

Each moment that passes

Will not remain;

Your life, don’t squander –

Those memories you’ll retain.

***********************************************************************

It takes courage to process

These moments, so glaring.

Forever is waiting –

You, yourself – must be daring.

***********************************************************************

Live it, seize it –

The world, it is a dance.

Your goal… eternity;

Everything left, save chance.

************************************************************************

ABOUT ME

Joy

…We are all born with it–Joy. We exude enough of it as children to fill all the adult hearts in any room. We’ve no need to be taught how to smile on a sunny Saturday morning, dance in muddy spring puddles, delight as a butterfly alights on our noses. Joy is our birthright–our spiritual birthmark.
