Migraine Awareness Month #29: “More Often Than Not”
“Today is Chronic Migraine Awareness Day. People with chronic Migraine have a Migraine more often than not. Think of and share a random act of kindness that you could do for someone with chronic Migraine.”
My Six-Sentence Story of Chronic Migraine (combatted with “Random Acts of Kindness”):
The world of Migraine is frequently one of pain, misunderstanding (i.e. psychological pain), depression and planning: hours, days, events – everything must be laid out, thought of, choreographed… ahead of time and in anticipation of the disability because of the pain.
Many of those with Migraine Disease live a life of still more pain, planning and suffering: these Migraineurs are “chronic” – having fifteen or more days of Migraine pain, nausea, photophobia, phonophobia and more; life for these sufferers can be almost unbearable.
To say that these Chronic Migraineurs need assistance and support would be an understatement; during ongoing Migraine attacks, even accomplishing or completing personal care and housework becomes a daunting battle.
Helping these chronic sufferers with their personal needs; running errands for them; and assisting with house cleaning is indispensable, but are these the best ways to be “randomly kind“?
In my opinion – yes and no; of course, those of us with chronic and debilitating conditions would always welcome help with our daily tasks; but what does a chronic Migraineur desire most in the long run?
…To have their power back; their piece of mind; and to be able to hope again: the surety that everything really will be all right – no matter what…
